Super Metroid
I finished playing Super Metroid on my 3DS today. I started it a couple of weeks ago. Despite it being one of my favorite games of all time, I had never actually played it myself! I grew up watching my brother play it on the SNES though so I know it like the back of my hand. I have seen the big baby metroid sacrifice itself for Samus countless times, and yet STILL the emotional impact of that scene made me cry today hahaha. What a good game. WHAT A GOOD GAME!!!
The OST is one of my favorites. All the different area themes are stellar and distinct (the Brinstar Vegetation area is my absolute fave). Mother Brain's theme continues to send chills down my spine. It's such a beautiful game through and through. 10/10.
By comparison, Metroid Dread which I played some months ago had such a LACKLUSTER OST. I was severely disappointed by the bland and forgettable music. I know every area had its own theme, but they all sounded the same to me lmao. Despite the very fun gameplay it just did not live up to expectations.
